ROBERT RUSTERMIER

Robert Rustermier (b. 1957) creates translucent and ethereal paintings in paraffin wax. His work explores the visual effect that semi-translucent material might have on a simple field of color. Rustermier identifies with neo-geometric abstraction, using fundamental shapes – circles and lines – arranged in multiple ways to create a sense of spatial depth. His work explores the use of these shapes and their formed relationships in ambiguous space.
