Sutra Collectives is an ongoing workshop derived from the TeaHouse/天地茶屋, a traveling art installation to create a silent retreat, and conceived by the artist Ines Sun. Pencilnyc Studio joins the Chinatown ArtsWeek, organized by Think Chinatown, a nonprofit working at the intersection of storytelling, arts & neighborhood engagement. Everyone is welcome to join us on to copy heart sutra in gold on indigo sutra paper. Coping sutra accumulates merits and generating blessings for all. Suggested donation $10. Proof of vaccination is required at the entrance. All proceed goes to Think Chinatown.

Ines Sun is a multidisciplinary artist who creates ephemeral art installations involving tea and calligraphy in silence. Sutra Collectives is an ongoing activity derived from the Teahouse Installation created by the artist Ines Sun. Copying sutra, which contains Buddhas' teaching, generates peace within and benefits all sentient beginnings.
