Origin of Creatives in Conversation:

It is my daughter, Elaine Ritchel, founder of Santa Fe Art Tours, that I have to thank for my innovation—From the Divine Studio: Creatives in Conversation. The pandemic hit. Overnight, Elaine had to figure out how to continue her business, which focuses on tours of art venues. She created Artist Studio Visits and Mindfulness with Art for her business Santa Fe Art Tours. Inspired by her idea, I thought of how I’d like to open up more conversation among creative and caring people to bring us together during our pandemic isolation.

With the same purpose in mind, I had already begun my newsletter and my blog, which is called From the Divine Studio—to connect us is our “divine studios,” which can be seen as our creative selves and even our creative space within our studios, offices, homes—our creative spaces or our inner sense of creativity.

Creatives in Conversation is an event featuring a creative with whom we converse, which rounds out the community-building of my newsletter and blog. Not only did I “borrow” Elaine’s idea of sharing creativity via Zoom in our studios or homes, she suggested the name Creatives in Conversation. Thanks, Elaine!

I found the term “divine studio” from Hafiz’s poem “Theater of Freedom,” which I find inspiring about creativity.

Creating to me is divine, a term I use for an exquisiteness beyond definition.

Here is a brief explanation of why I write, and refers to the Hafiz poem and how I think of creativity and the creative self.
