Mass damage and destruction of ecosystems is being committed all across our shared planet relentlessly and repeatedly in pursuit of economic development. This damage to nature is a root cause of the global climate and ecological crisis. Existing treaties, agreements, civil lawsuits and regulation have all failed to prevent this, and for the most part no-one is held legally responsible. It's time to change the rules and create a foundational legal framework to protect the living world.

We’re advocating for the crime of ecocide to be recognised by the International Criminal Court alongside genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and crimes of aggression. This is a simple, necessary and direct legal solution that will radically change the rules of the game for the global economy. Ecocide law is an essential ingredient for a future where humanity and nature can thrive in harmony. There will be no-one on Earth who does not benefit.
